259 miles

Wed Nov 3rd 5 miles Committee meeting at Alan Beere’s house. We have sold 104 dinner tickets so far – it should be good this year.

Sat Nov 6th 20 miles Went to Pinner and Northwood in the morning and then over to South Harrow to pay Alan Stratman the money for four club dinner tickets – I cannot seem to sell any dance tickets. Went up to town in the evening.

Sat Nov 13th 10 miles Up to Northwood in the afternoon to meet the club and to make arrangements for tomorrow. I worked in the afternoon and then went out in the evening.

Sun Nov 14th 45 miles I met Brian Major at 9.30 a.m. and we rode out through Ruislip to Fulmer in bright sunshine (I took three photos) to the Slough Community Centre for the AGM of the RTTC West London District Council. It was a very lively and interesting meeting. We had a beer and then went down to Eddie’s café in Slough with Pete Fuller and Jim Burgin for a snack and a natter, We rode home the usual way and got in at about 5.00 p.m. A nice day.

Mon Nov 15th 10 miles Up to the club rooms. We made final arrangements for the club dinner on Friday night.

Wed Nov 17th 7 miles Went up to the Cycle Show [at Earls Court]. In the evening we held a committee meeting at Keith Piddell’s house. We have sold 107 dinner tickets this year – the best ever! Another wet night.

Club dinner 1954. Receiving medals from Mrs Sharpe.

Fri Nov 19th Club dinner. A very good ‘do’ indeed although I had to leave early [to take a young lady home!].

Sat Nov 20th 10 miles met the club at Northwood Hills and had a drink.

Sun Nov 21st 20 miles I was supposed to be meeting the club and leading the run, but nobody turned up! Perhaps no-one had any money left after the club dinner on Friday and the BBAR ‘concert’ last night?

Sat Nov 27th 27 miles Went up to Gordon Prangley’s and to Pinner in the morning. Then met Brian Major in the afternoon and cycled over to Shepherd’s Bush to attend the AGM of the West London District Association (WLCA). It was a lively meeting. It then poured with rain on the way home.

Sun Nov 28th 75 miles Eight people out on the club run today. It was warm and sunny apart from one short hail shower. We stopped at Bagshot for elevenses and then on to Guildford for lunch. We paid our ‘usual’ visit to the Priory and had a few beers. Played shove ha’penny in the pub. The River Wey was flooded.
