A very short entry owing to the inexplicable gap in the diaries; Club dinner and presentation

335 miles

Sun Dec 2nd 83 miles No rain today; mild and sunny. Tony Standing was home from the RAF so he came out today. Elevenses were at the ‘Shanty’, Bourne End, dinner at the ‘Downs Tea Rooms’ at Dunstable, and tea at the ‘Marshmoor’ at Hatfield. A very nice day with about 14 people out at tea.

Mon Dec 3rd 10 miles Club night.

There was an unexplained gap in the 1951 diary at this point, even though my mileage chart recorded 70, 85, 80 and 40 miles for the last four weeks of the month.

Club dinner, 1951. From left: Stan Boyes, Boff Empson (in background), our President, Jack Sharpe, and Mrs Sharpe (presenting medals).

Mon Dec 31st 10 miles Cloudy and cool; rain in the evening. Did not go out in the morning, but went to the club in the evening. Took bookings for Sunday’s run to Leighton Buzzard. Today was Brian Huggins’ first day at work.

Mileage for 1951: 8,581 miles
