Roger Bingham, of Northwood Wheelers and Roy May, of the South Ruislip Cycling Club, were both able to get home from Germany, where they are completing their national service, to attend the Wheelers' annual dinner at the Tithe Farm Hotel, South Harrow. While serving in Germany they are riding with the R.A.F. Cycling Club. A signed menu has been sent to one of the club's old friends, Tommy Simpson, now living in Toronto, Canada, Wearing a fez, senior vice-President, mr Stan Boyes, struck a topical note by proposing a toast in humourous vein to "Abdul Nasser" which was greeted with a cheer by the 70 members and guests. It was coupled, he added with Abdul's apologies to those who were not able to attend the dinner because of the petrol shortage.
