Northwood Wheelers

This report in the Uxbridge and West Drayton refers to the origins of the club

1953 12 11 Uxbridge and West Drayton GazetteFive years ago a few young fellows keen on cycling met at Northwood Boys' Club discussing their favourite sport, and then decided to try and form a club.

A few months later the Northwood Wheelers Club came into being and last Thursday eighty members and friends attended the annual dinner at the Tithe Farm Hotel, South Ruislip, and enjoyed a thoroughly grand time.

Considerable progress has been made since Northwood started and in that short time hard workand organization have combined to make the club recognized as among the best in N. W. London. This was the opinion of Mr P. Fuller (of the South Ruislip Club) expressed when proposing the toast to the club.

The club has promoted its own events with some encouraging results, and the junior section has flourished too. Northwood really believe in working and playing hard and will continue to do so.
